What were all about: Finding good restaurants that are big family friendly
Where are we: San Diego, Ca but we do travel so there will be reviews of good eats in other cities, maybe near you
Why Hungry Squirrels: When my oldest son was 3, he woke up one morning stavring and started begging for breakfast. He said "the squirrels in my tummy are hungry". Of course I laughed, feed him breakfast and then wrote that down.
Who are the critics: My husband, Derek the picky about prices but "not picky" eater. Me, Bethany, although I'm not a qualified food critic I'm a foodie at heart. Shayne, my oldest son, loves his meat and carbs not afraid to speak his mind. Ryleigh, oldest daughter, LOVES food like her mama, wants everything to look pretty. Liam, littlest son, just learning about the joy of good eats, but knows when a place is not kid friendly. Ava, the baby girl, too little to give an opinion right now but I know that will soon change.

Brian's American Eatery

Brian's American Eatery
Hillcrest

We went for breakfast today, taking the kids out that time of morning is a gamble. You never know if they have had enough sleep, or if their blood sugar's too low. So grumpy is always a possibility. Knowing that we did give them chocolate milk while we got ready to go. We heard about their breakfast and was looking forward to it. When we got there it wasn't busy and Derek and kids got seated right away. Always a plus when you have young kids. I, of course had things to do in the car before I could come in. They had a table that was big enough for all of us. Half booth and half chairs. It's really the best sitting for us. The wait-staff was friendly and took our drink orders as they were sitting us. The drinks and food came out quickly which means happy kids. We ordered two adults meals ans three kids meals. We don't always do that Liam usually shares with the other kids, but we thought he might be very hungry. Over all we had a good time out.

Bethany's Review:
I order a Frittata, it was light and fluffy. Pretty good, it's hard to mess up eggs!
Favorite thing; the biscuit, it was fluffy with a crusty top covered with a honey glaze YUM
Least Favorite; there was no coloring pages to entertain the kids and 2 out of 4 really like those

Derek's Review:
He ordered Chicken and Waffles, he heard they were tasty and he's been dying to try that southern staple. The waffle was golden brown not too crispy, very fluffy and sweet. The chicken was very crispy, and dipped in honey which was very tasty.
Favorite thing; the coffee carafe, they put it right on your table so when you want a refill you don't have to hunt down a sever
Least Favorite; the kids drinks weren't included and the chocolate milk and juice didn't have free refills which meant we had to buy 2 extra drinks at $3.68 each

Ryliegh's Review:
She ordered the Kid's Traditional Breakfast, eggs, potatoes, sausage, and a biscuit.
Favorite thing; the sausage it was juicey
Least Favorite; the eggs they didn't have cheese

Liam and Shayne's Review:
They both ordered the Pancake Breakfast, 3 silver dollar pancakes and 2 pieces bacon.
Shayne's Favorite thing; everything it was all good
Least Favorite; the t.v volume it was too quiet

Liam's Favorite thing; the little jellies on the table
Least Favorite; well... lets just say he was having a rough day

Pricing:
It has pretty good prices. Example; Derek's Chicken and Waffles was only $9.99. The kids meals were $3.99 (drinks not included) and they were pretty big 2 small kids could share. Drinks were the most expensive.

Rating:
3.5 out of 5 spoons

We'll probably go again, this time we'll bring more toys and books for entertaining. And set the limit at 1 drink per kid, then go to water.
